PROPOSED AMENDMENT:

4 VAC 20-430-10 et seq. "Pertaining to the Marking and Minimum Mesh Size of Gill Nets"

The proposed amendment to the regulation would delete the following language from 4 VAC 20-430-20:

5. An easily visible number or symbol shall be attached to end marker flags and floating balls, and the same number or symbol shall be used for both ends of the same net.

6. Each fisherman shall not use the same number or symbol for identification on more than one of the gill nets licensed by that fisherman.

The purpose of this amendment is to ease gill net marking requirements that are considered excessive in the identification of gill net end-marker flags and floating balls.
