Glebe Point Fishing Pier

Background:

The first phase, a 60 foot pier, was completed in 2001. In 2002, a T-head and crabbing deck were added to the pier. The project received a total VSRFDF grant of $31,887. There is no fee, but a valid Saltwater Recreational Fishing License is required to fish from the pier. Two picnic benches were donated by the Northumberland Lions Club. The site has 2 handicapped parking spaces and the pier is completely handicapped accessible. There are 9 paved parking spaces and additional gravel parking in a VDOT overflow lot under the Route 200 bridge. A single handicapped accessible portable restroom is available. At least 4 species of fish are commonly caught in this section of the Great Wicomico River, they include croaker, spot, seatrout and striped bass. The adjacent bridge provides excellent structure for fish and is within casting distance.

Directions:

The pier is located on the Great Wicomico River at the Route 200 bridge.

From Tappahannock: Take US 360 east to Burgess. Turn right on Route 200 and go across the Route 200 bridge, take the first right immediately after the bridge. The parking lot is at the bottom of the hill.
From Gloucester Point: Take US 17 north to Route 3, take Route 3 to Kilmarnock. From Kilmarnock, take Route 200 to Wicomico Church and continue about 3 miles. Take the last left before crossing the Route 200 bridge (Route 1006). The parking lot is at the bottom of the hill.
