Background:

The York County, Rodgers A. Smith Landing and Fishing Pier facility improvements were completed in 2006.  The project received $472,555 in grant funds from the VSRFDF.  The facility has 1 double-wide boat ramp and 1 single boat ramp.  All ramps are handicapped accessible and have floating docks for easier boat entry/exit. Of the 37 vehicle/trailer parking spaces, 2 are handicapped accessible.  Of the 14 vehicle only parking spaces, 2 are handicapped accessible.  The ADA compliant T-head (18' X 32') fishing pier extends out 169 feet from shore. Modern restroom facilities were also added.  The lighted facility has no fee and is open 24 hours.  The facility offers quick access to the Poquoson River and the lower Chesapeake Bay.

The Facility is located at the end of Tide Mill Road in Tabb, VA

From I-64 E/W in Newport News:  Take the Victory Blvd. exit (Exit # 256-B) toward Yorktown/Poquoson (Route 171).  After you cross the lighted intersections at Route 17 and Route 134, you will be in Tabb.  At the traffic light, take a left onto Big Bethel Rd.  (Fire Station and Tabb High School on left-hand side).  Take the third road to the right, which is Tide Mill Rd. and go to the end.
